‘Aunty’ provides food for the soul

According to Fanny, the feeding scheme only catered for children in the last few years, but has now allowed some drug addicts who begged to be included

FANNY Wilson is feeding children with the Lighthouse Community Feeding Scheme she runs in Terreplane Street.

When the RECORD visited the scheme on May 10, the premises was filled with smiling and laughing children waiting for a plate of food.

The children had just come from school and were all happy to be with their “Aunty Fanny”.

“Every Wednesday, I cook food for the children. My aim is to start cooking and feeding on a daily basis, if God permits,” said Fanny.

Although the feeding scheme has traditionally only catered for children, Fanny is now also feeding some addicted people in the community, as well as counselling them.

“The children are happy here and can’t wait for Wednesdays. I’m also delighted to have them here and give them scripture lessons, reading passages like: Proverbs 22:6, which reads: “Train a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not turn from it,” Fanny said.
