Pool cue murder case postponed

Vink’s family want proof of the accused's medical condition.

THE man accused of the murder of Ludi Vink (30), Daniel Jacobus Olivier (52), made a second appearance in the Palm Ridge District Court, today (Thursday), April 20.

His bail was extended and the case was postponed to June 6 for further investigation.

Vink died two days after he was attacked by Olivier at Mitzy’s Pub, in Randhart, on February 21.

During the attack, a pool cue penetrated his eye. Witnesses stated that Vink was attacked after he tried to stop a fight between Olivier and the owner of the pub.

Olivier handed himself over to Alberton detectives, in the presence of his attorney, on February 24. He appeared in court on the same day and was granted R5 000 bail.

Many family and friends of the deceased and accused were in court today.

Danlee, Vink’s mother, told her friends and family about the plans she has for his upcoming birthday.

“I want to do something every year on his birthday,” she said.

The family also said they want proof of Olivier’s medical condition as, at his first appearance in court, it was stated he has cancer.
