ON Wednesday night, April 12, thieves broke into Eden Park Secondary School and stole computers. The thieves took 35 computers from the computer class and five others from the administration offices.
The thieves made their entry through a window in the staff room by cutting off the burglar bars and carried out all the computers.
It is reported that patrollers on duty heard the alarm at 03:00 and phoned the police, who responded quickly.
The response disturbed the thieves, because they left 12 computers behind on the soccer field and a steel grinder and a bag of tools in the principal’s office, where it is believed they tried to grind the safe open.
The principal, Liza Naude, said the break-in is a big setback for the school because valuable information is now lost. “School is reopening and we have to prepare learners’ reports,” she said. “We have lost all data, schedules and important information. We plead with the community to help the police with any information regarding the theft of the computers, for the sake of the school and learners.”
