THE development of an eight-hectare old age home in Southcrest came under the spotlight on Thursday, March 16, during a ward committee meeting held at the Ekurhuleni council chamber, in Alberton.
The meeting was presented by the developers of the property, Marprieu Developments cc, and ward committee member Gene Fivas.
The meeting was open to the public and those who attended had the opportunity to express their concerns about the development and ask questions.
Francois du Plooy and Tinus du Plessis, of the development team, provided a thorough explanation of the property and the planning that has been done.
Du Plessis assured the public that thorough planning has been done to satisfy all parties – developers, future residents of the property and the surrounding residents of Southcrest – as much as possible.
Questions raised by the public included:* How will such a large residential development impact on current Southcrest residents?
* What effect will this have on the sewerage system?
* Will there be enough parking?
Although a few members of the public remained unhappy about the development, most were satisfied with the answers given to their questions and found the session informative.
