Land claim: no need to panic

"It was found that the claim is without merit, and these types of things take years and years of red tape before anything happens anyway"

THE RECORD recently published a story concerning the land claim issue and how Alberton residents need not panic.

One concerned resident, however, claims that our information is incorrect, as the map he has of the affected area includes several parts of Alberton.

As was mentioned in the RECORD’s article, that map to which the resident is referring is a very old one that was used initially and completely inaccurate. This is confirmed by several people in the know, as well as the council members themselves.

“It was found that the claim is without merit, and these types of things take years and years of red tape before anything happens anyway,” says Alderman Bruna Haipel, ward councillor for Alberton. “Add the fact that just a tiny part of Alberton, which doesn’t include any residential areas, would be affected anyway, there really is no need for anyone to stress about this,” adds Ald Haipel.
