Elvis helps to heal Broken Wings

"As soon as we read the RECORD and realised Broken Wings has a genuine need, we decided to do a raffle and collect funds on their behalf."

SHADES of Grey, an entertainment group, not only entertains but also helps charities raise much-needed funds. All the members are also members of the Blue Suede Heaven Elvis Appreciation Group.

The group held a Valentine Vegas Evening, at Reading Country Club, on Saturday, February 11, featuring Vegas headliners.

“As soon as we read the Alberton RECORD and realised Broken Wings, a non-profit organisation that cares for the mentally and physically disabled, has a genuine need, we decided to do a raffle and collect funds on their behalf,” says Lainy Hendry, vice president of the group.

“Those who attended the function gave heartily and we were able to get together with Sheryl Swanepoel, from Broken Wings, at Reading Country Club to hand over this gift,” adds Lainy.

The show was called ā€œItā€™s All About the Musicā€ and provided a variety of songs from different artists, including Elvis Presley, of course.

The Blue Suede Heaven Elvis Appreciation Group is a small, Gauteng-based group of people who are passionate about supporting and keeping the generous legacy of Elvis Presley alive and well in South Africa. They are recognised by Elvis Presley Enterprises, in Memphis, a recognition that has to be applied for and earned annually, based on a positive contribution to local communities or individuals in need.

Broken Wings is still in dire need of help. To get in touch with them, contact Sheryl on 072 998 7767.
