New wheels set him free

"'Thank you' is not even enough for what you have done."

Thanks to the generosity of big-hearted Albertonians who responded warmly after the RECORD published a story (February 1) about resident Tom Smith’s need for a wheelchair, he is now mobile.

Smith (44) told the RECORD how his new set of wheels have changed his life. “May God bless all the kind people of Alberton for all the phone calls, offerings and for coming to my rescue. I am so happy with this new wheelchair, I don’t even know how to express my gratitude.

“My dear and loving sister can now even send me to the shop in my new wheelchair,” Smith joked with his boyish smile.

“On behalf of my family, I want to thank the RECORD for publishing the story on my brother’s plight and I thank the people who phoned on the same day of publication,” said a tearful Katrina Mocca, Tom’s sister.

“I thank the Lord for opening the hearts of so many kind people of Alberton. May God bless you all, and keep up the good deeds for all those in need. ‘Thank you’ is not even enough for what you have done for my brother.”

Smith was full of smiles as he demonstrated how he can now freely wheel around the premises by himself.
