Accident claims two lives

Local authorities were on the scene to investigate further.

TWO men were killed and another critically injured on Sunday, January 29, when a light motor vehicle rear-ended a bakkie at the N12/R21 split in Boksburg, east of Johannesburg.

ER24 paramedics, along with various other services, arrived on the scene to find the bakkie in the emergency lane while the light motor vehicle was found on the right side of the highway. The bodies of two men were found lying on the highway. Paramedics found that one of the men had succumbed to multiple, fatal injuries and he was declared dead on the scene. The second man was found to have sustained numerous injuries and his vital signs were critically low.

Paramedics immediately began treating the man and initiated numerous advanced life support interventions. Unfortunately, their attempts were unsuccessful and the man was also declared dead.

A third man was found to have sustained numerous injuries and was in a critical condition.

He was also provided with several advanced life support interventions before being transported to a nearby provincial hospital.

It is understood that the men had been pushing their bakkie from the fast lane across the highway when they were rear-ended by the light motor vehicle.
