A perfect pass rate six years running

Impact Independent High School has received a perfect Matric pass rate for the sixth year in a row and they show no signs of stopping there.

IMPACT Independent High School has received a perfect Matric pass rate for the sixth year in a row and they show no signs of stopping there.

The school has an average class size of between 18-22 learners per class, allowing more individual attention.

“We would like to get away from the common misconception that we are a home-schooling facility,” says the principal, Karen van der Schyf.

“We prepare our kids for the real world. “The NSC curriculum is followed, but we are quite flexible on things like make-up, loose hair, boys can wear earrings, etc – as long as they are neat and presentable. That way we can spend less time on policing them and more time on education,” adds Karen.

Standing: Kelly Kruger, Keegan Phillips, Devon Mac Donald, Tristan Hughes, Cristopher Stephenson (Head Boy), Jarrod Poulton, Katlego Mokgoto (Deputy Head Boy) and Rendani Manyatshe (Deputy Head Girl).

The school tries to incorporate inclusive teaching, catering for learners with disabilities, as well as offering ‘Readers are Leaders’ programmes.

“We offer extra lessons as well as a free aftercare service, where two teachers are always present,” says Karen.

Karen says that the school is Christian-based in terms of values, but that all religions are welcome.

Sport is not something the school really focuses on, but sports clubs outside the school are available to fulfill those needs if required.

“We are not a school that people send their kids to when they are star pupils, but I think it just shows that what we do really works, when looking at our perfect matric pass rate for the last six years.
