Share Science is currently working on devices for Stoneridge Primary and needs help in getting the school new equipment.

SHARE Science has now developed devices for Stoneridge Primary School, with the aim of helping the school in replacing the computers that were stolen earlier this year.

Share Science was founded in 2014 by Tarren Roodt , Jocelyn Fisher and John Ancill. It’s an NGO with state of the art science facilities, which visits underprivileged schools to bring the magic and inspiration of science to disadvantaged students – mentoring South Africa’s future scientists and biologists.

“We rely solely on donations from the general public and corporations, in order to carry out our much needed work,” said representative William Walker.

Share Science teaches enlightenment through inspiration and motivation using interesting, intriguing, practical teaching methods; and aims to change the paths of many scholars who may otherwise end up struggling to succeed.

Its mission is to empower children with knowledge and broaden their prospects, by creating awareness of career opportunities in the science and micro-biology fields. In discharging their responsibilities, Share Science doesn’t take professional or ethical shortcuts and interactions with all segments of society, reflect high standards.

“We’d like to take a traveling science laboratory to underprivileged schools in disadvantaged areas and, using state of the art microscopes and presentation equipment that the school would otherwise have no access to, introduce the children from grade 5 to grade 7, to the exciting world of microbiology, minerals and chemistry too,” said Walker.

Share Science is currently working on devices for Stoneridge Primary. These devices will make it impossible for thieves to steal their computers or devices etc. Speaking to the RECORD/CHRONICLE/COURIER, Walker advised us that the school is in need of computers, a projector plus sponsorships of about R800 a month – to accommodate the internet and other equipment to assist with internet connection, for the learners.

Share Science likes to leave a set of microscopes and other basic science lab equipment at the schools, to enable their regular science classes to continue with the high quality, interesting and inspirational lessons the school’s pupils would have been introduced to. In our one hour presentation of the wondrous world through a microscope, that’s done only on completion of lessons.
