Warning – dogs poisoned in Alberton area

If you know or suspect your dog has been poisoned it is important to act quickly.

IT has come to the attention of CPS Security that a group of criminals is poisoning dogs in the early hours of the morning in Raceview, Alberton.

When a pet is poisoned, quick and appropriate action is vital to save your pet’s life.

The most commonly used poisons are organophosphates and carbamate (Aldicarb, Temik, also known as Two-Step). Rat poison is another commonly used option.

Signs of dog poisoning:

Different poisonous substances may affect your dogs in different ways, depending on how much they ingest.

While symptoms of dog poisoning can vary vastly from case to case, some of the most common are:

*Abnormal behaviour

*Black, tarry stool

*Collapse

*Coughing

*Decreased or absent urination

*Diarrhoea

*Discoloured gums

*Drooling

*Excessive thirst

*Excessive urination

*Lack of appetite

*Nausea

*Vomiting

*Weakness

If you know or suspect your dog has been poisoned it is important to act quickly.

You must also act carefully, as your actions may determine the outcome of your dog’s health emergency.
