Donate a gift for a pet

Support Alberton SPCA this Christmas.

If so, and you don’t know what to get your dog, how about buying him a new collar and lead.

November is Collar-and-lead Month at the Alberton SPCA and they are hoping people will donate their old collars and leads for the society to distribute when they do their next outreach.

“So many people don’t have the money to buy a collar and lead for their dog and use inappropriate means, such as old rope, wire and/or chains, which can be detrimental to the dog in question,” said Vanja Ingold, an Alberton SPCA member.

”Please donate to us. We also accept new collars and leads. We just want to help those dogs who are loved but whose owners cannot afford proper collars and leads.”

Donations can be dropped off at the branch in Lincoln Road, General Alberts Park, or at the Christmas stand at Bracken City.

“Our Christmas stand will be open from Tuesday, November 15, outside Pick n Pay, Bracken City, selling cards, calendars, dog and cat gift bags, etc.,” added Ingold.

”Once again we will have our ‘Tree of Light’, where you can buy a disc for R10 in memory of your loved pets. Let’s see if we can make it a record year, with lots of lights. ”Please pop by and say hello to the volunteers and support our stand. We will also be collecting donations of dog and cat food.”

Alberton SPCA is also raffling a Christmas hamper. Tickets cost R10 and can be bought at their offices or from the Christmas stand.

The SPCA receives no government funding and relies on the generosity of the public for support.
