Local hair salon takes on cancer

Senta Bella Hair Salon in Alberton is hosting a Cancer Awareness Day after the owner and stylist both became victims of the affliction.

SENTA Bella Hair Salon in Alberton is hosting a cancer awareness day after the owner and stylist both became victims of the disease.

The event will take place on Saturday, October 29, from 10:00 to 13:00, at Shop 9, Bracken Gardens Shopping Centre, on the corner of Delphinium and Hennie Alberts streets.

“We feel that it is very important to raise awareness about cancer as it is becoming more common these days. We as a salon have also been affected by cancer in our family. Myself as well as my stylist have been knocked by cancer this year and both of our fathers were previously diagnosed with cancer (three weeks apart),” says owner of the salon, Natasha Venter.

“It is important for us to find a way to raise money for families less fortunate that don’t have the financial assistance to get the treatment that they may require.

“We will be having a jumping castle as well as cupcakes, sweets, ice creams, balloon competitions, face painters, balloon artists and much more, to get as many people to donate as possible.

“We decided to go around to all the shops within the shopping centre and every shop agreed to donate either a voucher or item to go into a raffle that will be given away on the day and it is absolutely amazing that the whole shopping centre came together for such an amazing cause,” adds Venter.

All money raised will be donated to the Cancer Association.
