A passion to make a difference in the world, has led General Alberts Primary School Tristan Goncalves (12) to already achieve that.
New Redruth’s Tristan is one youngster who’s mind is set to help those in need. He started a charity project – Tristan’s SPCA Charity Collection – this year and has already gathered R7 000 worth of items. “My main goal is R8 000 and up,” he said.
Tristan also wants to start a project whereby he can help feed and clothe the poor. He’s really standing out not just because he started a charity, but despite all the negativity going on around the world, he still wants to be the one who is making the difference.
Because he loves animals, Tristan chose to support the SPCA as his first project.
His mother, Wendy, said that she thinks it’s amazing that such a young child is already thinking about greater issues around him and trying to make a difference.
“My husband and I are so proud of him,” she added.
Wendy told the RECORD that Tristan is a very caring, considerate and intelligent child, who’s an introvert by nature. He still enjoys being part of a team though and ‘comes out of his shell’ when he participates in speeches and talent competitions at school.
In his spare time he likes to read, play games and play with his brother, Tyler (1). Tristan was born on September 28 in 2004 at the Sunninghill hospital. As for thoughts about a future job, he wants to be a marine biologist because he wishes to work with dolphins, seals, sharks and other sea creatures.
His biggest inspiration in life is his parents. “They always have my back and are always there for me,” Tristan said. At school he’s won the Mr Charming Junior and Senior titles, as well as getting first and second prince when he entered the yearly competition at General Alberts Primary.
