Young farmers injured as bakkie rolls off Highway

Driver lost control of the bakkie.

THREE men were seriously injured this on Monday, September 19 after their bakkie rolled off the N1 Highway in Vanderbijlpark. ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene and found the bakkie lying on its side in a field. All three men were found lying outside the vehicle being tended to by a local farmer. It is believed the driver lost control of the bakkie, causing it to roll off the highway and over a fence, coming to rest in the field. A farmer, who had been working nearby, witnessed the incident and immediately rushed to the men’s aid.

Upon assessment, paramedics discovered that all three men, aged between 25 and 35, had sustained serious injuries.

Treatment and advanced life support interventions were immediately initiated on the patients. Once treated, the three men were transported by ER24 to Mediclinic Emfuleni for further treatment.

Local authorities were on the scene to investigate further.
