Local charities win with Gold Reef’s Slots Factor

The exhilarating tournament saw the top three scorers winning R10 000 for their respective charities

THE launch of Gold Reef City’s annual Tsogo Sun Slots Factor Tournament delivered a marathon of fun for the popular entertainment destination’s media and celebrity friends. They all played their hand in this adrenaline-fuelled tournament for charity on Wednesday, July 27.

The exhilarating tournament saw the top three scorers winning R10 000 for their respective charities: Boithuto Community Project, Blind SA and the Tutti Music Initiative. However, everyone was a winner on the day, as the other 11 charities all walked away with R3 000 each for their worthy causes.

Slots Factor is one of Tsogo Sun’s most exciting promotions, where slot enthusiasts stand a chance to take home heaps of money. This blockbuster promotion makes its way to Gold Reef City with qualifying rounds taking place until Saturday, September 17. Players from all over the country will battle it out to take home a guaranteed R1-million in prize money. Entry is daily at Gold Reef City from 14:00.

More about the charities:

Boithuto Community Project – represented by Tracy Le Roux

Helps children and elderly by feeding approximately 160 children and 40 elderly. The project targets child-headed homes and the elderly, building insulated homes for them with a proper door, window and solar lights. It also has a library to help with resource material for the children to complete their homework. Their goal is to provide funding for those who have matriculated to study further, and assist with food parcels for the elderly with household and financial difficulties.

Tutti Music Initiative – represented by Osborne Mnganga

Delinquency in South Africa is a growing concern which leads to serious criminal activities. Tutti Music Initiative helps disadvantaged youths in Soweto by teaching music with a variety of musical instruments. Most of the children can be saved from a life of crime if they are provided with the tools to face the future. It wants to provide them with a sense of purpose in life.

Blind SA – represented by Karin Gouws

Blind SA’s mission is to do whatever is necessary or conducive to empower visually impaired people to become economically self-supporting and to live a full and meaningful life as citizens of South Africa. Blind SA wishes to promote the interests of all visually impaired people. Their biggest challenge is to ensure that all visually impaired people receive independent skills to be able to enjoy life like any other person.
