Post office makes an effort

Alberton Post Office has taken some small steps to improve the state it's in, but still has a long way to go.

ALBERTON Post Office has taken some small steps to improve the state it’s in, but still has a long way to go.

Amid many letters and calls of complaint, as well as stories regarding the problems at the post office, the RECORD revisited the post office recently, to check on the improvements made.

Upon arrival, the smell of urine was not as pungent as it had been for a long time during previous visits, and some of the problem areas mentioned in our last story, were cleaned up, there were however other problems that still remained, while additional problems were noticeable.

The site of an apparent chicken slaughter had been cleaned, and in it’s place was a collection of boards and crates.

Where there was once an array of chicken bones, cigarette butts and other junk, strewn about, there now remained only the remnants of cigarettes.

The assortment of blankets and mattresses of vagrants were strategically placed around the corner, as if an inspection was expected, but was not enough to thwart the investigative prowess of the RECORD.

The side of the post office was still less than attractive, and a lot of the trash seemed to be stuffed into a nearby drain.

RECORD will follow the situation and keep our readers updated.
