Ministry gives survival kits to the homeless

Ministry gives survival kits to the homeless in Johannesburg and Alberton.

The Metro Family Church in conjunction with Metro Community Support and led by Ps Desmond Naidoo and Ps Jenny Naidoo gave out survival kits to hundreds of homeless throughout June.

The heartbeat of this ministry is to take the love of God into the streets and reach out and touch the lives of people not only with the Gospel but also in a practical way.

The church believes there are more homeless who sleep on the streets than people realise or think. After the church saw the magnitude of the need in Johannesburg and Alberton, it decided to act and pooled its resources to put together a survival kit, designed to assist those who do not have a home or a shelter to live in.

The survival kit is a drawstring bag which is easily carried and contains a polar fleece blanket, a beanie, a pair of socks, a thermal mug to store hot water, an enamel cup, a plastic plate, a plastic spoon, premixed coffee, sugar and creamer, soup powder, biscuits and a sandwich.

To date, the church has distributed just over 750 survival kits. Of these, 400 came from the resources of Metro Family Church and 350 came from sponsors.

The church is extremely grateful for the giving hearts of the Metro Family Church and also all the sponsors who have responded to the need. Anyone wanting to assist in this project may contact Ps Desmond Naidoo on 083 278 3982, Ps Jenny Naidoo on 083 298 4114 or Ps Dave Goosen on 076 060 2263.
