VIDEO: A day filled with fun

Learners enjoyed themselves.

IT was a great day filled with ice cream, games and a visit from the Fire Department for the learners of Alberton Remedial School. On Friday, June 10, learners could come to school in ordinary clothes. According to one of the teachers, Lizeth Kotzé, the school makes sure to have a fun day termly before the exams.

Leon Jordaan, shift commander from the Ekurhuleni Fire Department, drove in with sirens.

He showed demonstrations and gave some handy tips regarding fires.

Here are some of the tips:

*Do not play with matches and if you find matches give it to your mom or dad.

*When you are on fire, do not run only stop, drop and roll. This will minimise injury in the event that your clothing catches fire.

*Know the emergency number of the Fire Department and do not ‘prank’ them as they can track you down and arrest you.

The learners were very interested and had a lot of questions.

One of the funniest moments for them was when three of their teachers, Delayne Millman, Lindsay Stephens and Lizeth dressed up in firefighter clothes and gear. Children also had the opportunity to touch the outfits.
