Police arrested one male for a murder that occurred at Rondebult Extension Two and one female for perjury.

POLICE arrested one male for a murder that occurred at Rondebult, extension two, and one female for perjury.

“After an investigation we found that the lady gave a false statement under oath about the murder. She was also arrested after changing her statement,” said Sergeant Phora Nkuna, spokesperson for the Alberton SAPS.

“The police worked tirelessly to solve the case and the friend of the deceased ended up being arrested for his murder,” added Nkuna.

Thirteen other suspects were also arrested around the Alberton SAPS policing area during normal crime prevention duties such as stop-and-search and tracing operations conducted by sector members, Flying Squad, Metro Police and detectives from Friday, May 13, to Sunday, May 15.

The other suspects were arrested for the following alleged offences: one theft, one assault, five for possession of drugs, one fraud, one common robbery, two for shoplifting, one for drunk driving and one for dealing with liquor without a license.

All suspects will appear at Palm Ridge and Germiston courts to answer to the alleged charges.
