Surprise treat for mothers

Bataung Memorial Tombstones celebrated Mother's Day in style on Sunday, May 7.

THERE is nothing like a surprise visit, especially if it is a visit to the elderly on Mother’s Day.

Bataung Memorial Tombstones celebrated Mother’s Day in style on Sunday, May 7. The staff spent the day at the Society for the Aged in Vosloorus where old ladies were pampered with lunch and goodie bags that included blankets for winter.

Mother’s Day means celebrating women in the community who have changed the role of motherhood and who have, from time to time, stood with their families in times of need,” said Lebo Khitsane, Bataung Tombstone Memorial chairman and CEO.

The morning drive, which included a parade of over 20 sports cars such as McLaren, Lamborghini and Porsche, motor bikers and the community, proceeded onto the streets of Thokoza and Katlehong, visiting orphanages in the area.

On arrival, children and staff were showered with gifts and a prepared Sunday meal.

“Our ultimate goal was to really bring joy to the mothers who have birthed us, and not forgetting our future young leaders sitting right here in these orphanages,” said Mathews Masote, manager of special projects at Bataung Memorial Tombstones.

The day ended with songs and dances from the members of the community who thanked the company for their kindness.
