Rising SA star named Forever Changed Brand Ambassador

SOUTH AFRICA is not short of amazing talent, and one of our up-and-coming stars, Nicquela de Kooker, or ”Nix” as she is known in the entertainment industry, is fast becoming a recognised local talent.

De Kooker, who lives in Alberton, became involved in the world of entertainment when she was scouted in 2014 by Addi Lang, then owner of Caitlin’s Casting Agency.

The pretty eight-year-old is a wonderful mix of talent, looks and star potential, and is well on her way to being a sought-after performer.

Despite her young age, de Kooker is dedicated to her performing career and spends every possible moment training in the disciplines of singing, acting, modelling and dancing.

Her career to date has included several auditions for a selection of TV and print advertising campaigns.

A noteworthy highlight has been her recent appointment as one of a select group of brand ambassadors for the Forever Changed Cancer Awareness Campaign.

“We are proud that Nix is a brand ambassador for the Forever Changed campaign,” says Lang.

“She is absolutely charming and her natural talent and willingness to be part of an international campaign will be highly beneficial for all involved.”

As part of her role as an ambassador, de Kooker will assist in creating awareness for the campaign through community events.

“Being a Forever Changed brand ambassador means I get to touch the lives of others who have been affected by cancer,” says de Kooker.

”I may be small, but I have a voice and I hope to be a catalyst for growing awareness around the campaign; I think it’s really important to understand that there are alternative options available for the treatment of cancer.”

Brand ambassadors may choose to arrange a screening of the Forever Changed documentaries or set up a talent contest at their school or in their community.

“I will always be grateful to Addi Lang for the world she opened up for me,” notes de Kooker, a natural performer at heart.

“All the world’s my stage and I love it! I live, eat and breathe the arts.”

De Kooker is determined to perfect her talent.

“She is great at taking direction, improving and learning scripts,” says Lang.

”Nix has a bright future ahead of her.”

Another amazing opportunity for de Kooker is being nominated to attend the Applause Rising Talent Showcase (ARTS), in the USA, in July. ARTS is a highly competitive talent showcase that JustYou Model Management offers in conjunction with USA-based director Kim Myers.

She will be entering several categories, including: Monologue, TV Commercial, Film Scene, Improve, Ramp Modelling, Creative Modelling, Photography and Singing.

“This will be my first visit overseas; I’m so excited,” de Kooker says.

”My goal for the trip is to gain international exposure and to be seen by industry greats.

“I believe in seizing the moment and having fun while doing it!”
