*Market @ 84 is a new market in the Walkerville area and is not a “Farmers” market but rather a fresh produce and crafters market. Only the best fresh produce and handmade/homemade crafts on offer. *The Parkinson’s Support Group will host their next meeting on Saturday, April 9, at Renaissance Retirement Village in the hall, at 2pm. Corner Comaro and Bellairs streets, Glenvista. *KNRA autumn walk on Sunday, April 10. Use Impala gate entrance, Impala Road, Mayfield Park, and make your way to the Sarel Marais Homestead in the reserve at 07:30 for 08:00. The walk will be relaxed giving walkers the opportunity to take in the fauna and flora of the reserve, Tswana ruins and animals along the way. Wear comfortable walking shoes or takkies, a hat and use sunblock, also bring plenty of water. After the walk, which will take about two and a half hours, enjoy a delicious breakfast (eggs, bacon, sausage, tomatoes, toast and jam, juice, tea or coffee). *Johannesburg Hiking Club hosts monthly slide show, 3000km cycle ride to launch a new conservation project for Africa’s smallest Finch by Eelco Meyjes. In March 2015, Eelco cycled from Cape Town to Vic Falls in Zimbabwe. BirdLife South Africa and the Rare Finch Conservation, Tuesday, April 12, at 19:30 at Greenside Primary School. Group www.rarefinch.org are collaborating on a new conservation project to try and establish why the little Orange-breasted Waxbill (Amandava subflava), Africa’s smallest finch, is disappearing in certain parts of the species’ natural habitat. The species is a wetland and grassland bird. Unexpected declines in certain parts of its natural habitat have resulted in the need for the species to be researched. R25 includes refreshments. *Panorama Flea Market: Come and take a look at the new stores opening up at the Panorama flea market over the next few weeks. Enjoy the entertainment and relaxing trip out of the house. The market is situated just off Kliprivier Drive, in Mulbarton, and is the busiest flea market in the South, with almost 400 stalls. The flea market is open on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
