Bracken CPF held a 25-hour patrol in Alberton

The Brackendowns CPF held a 25-hour marathon on Friday, March 25, from 06:00 to Saturday, March 26, 07:00 around Alberton

BRACKENDOWNS CPF held a 25-hour marathon which started on Friday, March 25, from 06:00 to Saturday, March 26, 07:00 in Alberton.

The RECORD met with Leon du Plessis, the vice chairperson for the Brackendowns CPF, and some of the patrollers, to talk to them about the marathon patrol they held and why they did it.

“Crime doesn’t take a holiday, so we decided to do this specifically over the Easter period, to show criminals that we are around and watching. Visibility of police and security services is always an important deterrent of crime,” said Du Plessis.

Mike Shackleford, Leon du Plessis, Antoinette du Plessis and Luciano Dias all completed their full 25-hour patrols and reported no incidents or crime in this time.

“We would like to thank the community for their assistance and warm-hearted donations. Without them, we would not have been able to do this. And a big thank you to the Alberton RECORD for covering the event,” added Du Plessis.
