Police urge residents to be alert

Avoid walking alone in dark areas at night.

THE ALBERTON Police have noticed an increase in common robberies around Alberton.

Members of the community are advised to avoid walking alone in dark areas at night.

Two men who are walking around threaten people with a knife or a firearm before robbing them of their cellphones and wallets. People are, thus, advised not to hold their phones in their hands.

“The police cannot be everywhere, but community members are everywhere and if they can be the eyes and ears of the police, a fight against crime will be won,” said Sgt Phora Nkuna, the communications officer for the Alberton Police.

The community is requested to report any movements they suspect to the police, on 011 861 6850.
