NOT one red rose but hundreds were delivered to Shajar Khan (24) on Valentine’s Day, February 14, at her Glenvista home.

Shajar (Miss SA International 2013) couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw all the roses, as well as balloons, teddy bears and chocolates arriving at her home.

“I saw a BMW pull up to our gate, followed by a white delivery truck. It was quite alarming as with the high crime rate, my family and I were not sure what to think.

“The car driver persisted in pressing the gate buzzer even though there was no answer. Eventually my mom asked if she could help him. He went on to explain that he has a delivery for Shajar, and that he needs to back the truck into the yard so that he can offload the delivery.

“We were startled and surprised as we did not know what to expect and then his staff started offloading bouquets and vases of roses and flowers. It was truly overwhelming,” said Shajar.

According to one of the women who delivered the flowers and other gifts, a gentleman came into their Lenasia florist shop and asked if he could buy all the flowers and Valentine gifts in the shop.

“Do you have any idea who sent you all these gorgeous blooms?” asked the CHRONICLE reporter. Smiling, Shajar said, “Yes, I do have an idea but I’m not one hundred per cent sure.”

On Monday, Shajar shared some of the flowers between her friends, a local old age home and a hospital. “I’m keeping some of my favourite bouquets but it will be lovely for others to enjoy the beautiful flowers.”
