Power out in Alberton North

Residents in Alberton North have been without power since 01:00 on Wednesday morning.

RESIDENTS in Alberton North have reported that they have been without power from the early hours of this morning, Wednesday, January 20.

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality Brand and Communication Department issued a statement saying that they are aware of the power supply interruption.

The interruption is reportedly due to an attempted cable theft at the Alberton North substation supplying power to the affected areas.

EMM spokesperson Themba Gadebe stated: “Ekurhuleni technicians are currently on site investigating the severity of the damages before commencing with repair works. The EMM wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
