UPDATE on little Desjuané after dog attack

Adorable Desjuané Farmer, who stole hearts after our first report about the dog attack that left her scull, face and eye damaged, is on the road to recovery, but she still has a long way to go, according to her mother, Hilda Sage.

“She has an appointment with the plastic surgeon on January 12 to remove the plates that were placed in her eye-socket to support the skull where it was crushed by the dog; then she has a scan on January 19 to see how everything looks on the inside and determine further action,” explains Hilda. “They still need to remove a scab on the inside of her eye, and once that has healed, they have to put an acrylic lens inside her eye. That eye will only be far-sighted, and the other eye will adapt to see everything else up close.”

Hilda would like to thank everyone for all the support and help they have received and says she is very appreciative and humbled by it all. She adds that she plans on getting medical aid, as this has shown her how expensive something like this can be. “I will make sure I have medical aid, even if we are homeless, that is something that we need to have.”

If you would like to help Desjuané with her medical costs or lend any kind of support, you can contact Hilda on 084 370 5404.
