JOHANNESBURG – Veli Ndaba, the COURIER’s columnist received the Brentwood Gentleman award from Kaya FM’s mid-morning show, The Best T in the City with T-Bose, on Monday, November 16.

The show is hosted by an Afropolitan, Thabo Mokwele, and during the Monday edition listeners nominate their Brentwood Gentleman who in turn receives a prize.

David Malindi send this nomination letter to Kaya FM:

I would like to nominate Veli Ndaba as the Brentwood Gentleman.

Veli is the author of the book You are born to win: Go ahead and reach your true potential. He is a great speaker and trainer who presents himself with power and dynamism to his audiences, he performs a number of roles as an author, speaker, business consultant, life coach, husband, father and brother. He is married to Mpumi and has two sons, Ntokozo and Sanele.

Against the challenges that he faced growing up, Veli fought to be accepted to the Technikon Witwatersrand (now the University of Johannesburg) to study mechanical engineering. After completing his first year, he received a bursary.

Veli later worked for several organisations taking up different leadership roles until he couldn’t contain his calling. That is when he established Sekusile Technical Services and the Veli Ndaba Foundation which helps young people who are not wired towards a university route, but are gifted in other areas, to make a difference in the world.

The foundation looks into areas such as the arts and vocational training and collaborates with expert organisations and other training institutions.

Engineering taught Veli that you need a systematic and a structured approach to formulate a solution to any problem or challenge. He is using this very approach to help people re-engineer their minds to win. Veli applies this approach in his motivational talks, life and business coaching sessions and corporate training. In his well-written and easy to read book, he shares his personal experiences and how one can turn their life around by changing their beliefs as they have a huge impact on one’s life.
