Client is unhappy about theft in restaurant

Rebecca Sutherland visited McDonalds in Alberton and walked out minus her IPhone 6.

ALBERTON- On November 13, Rebecca Sutherland visited McDonalds Alberton and walked out minus her iPhone 6.

Rebecca met with a colleague at the restaurant, and a woman sat down next to them at their table, then got up and moved to another table.

At that Rebecca realised that her iPhone 6 was missing and she approached the woman and asked for it to be returned.

The woman denied having the cellphone and Rebecca immediately reported the incident to the manager on duty.

She requested that they look at the video footage, to prove that the woman had her phone. The duty manager said the manager in charge of the video footage was not present, but that she would report the incident.

When Rebecca phoned the head of security, the incident had never been reported.

“I am disgusted at their lack of professionalism and poor customer service, and I am reporting this to warn people!” says Rebecca.

The RECORD contacted McDonalds for comment

“McDonald’s South Africa is aware of an alleged case of theft that took place between two customers at our Alberton restaurant on November 13, 2015. The safety and security of our customers and staff are of the utmost importance and we will co-operate fully with the SAPS to resolve this matter.” says Sechaba Motsieloa, corporate affairs director for McDonald’s South Africa.
