Storm leaves family roofless

The Nel family’s entire roof blew off during the storm on November 16.

EDENPARK -“I Thought our whole house was blowing away when the big storm blew away our roof. We went on our knees and prayed for mercy and protection,” said Brenda Nel after the storm on Monday, November 16.

During the RECORD’s visit to the Edenpark family, Brenda’s husband, Lawrence, was busy on the roof with repairs. Sitting in the garage surrounded by wet clothing and mattresses, Brenda further explained the heartbreaking ordeal they went through due to the heavy storm.

“I am just happy that nobody died or was injured. My husband rushed to a hardware shop to buy rolls of plastic to cover the house. I am very thankful to the people who assisted us. We now have to repair the whole roof and we pray that we don’t get another storm like this one in the near future.”
