Alberton Men’s Choir performs in perfect harmony

The Alberton Men's Choir entertained a large crowd at their annual performance.

ALBERTON  – Alberton Men’s Choir entertained residents on Friday, October 16, at their annual dinner. Attendees were treated to a three course meal, served by members of the choir who were decked out in matching aprons.

The event was opened by choir member Danie Viljoen, who introduced the master of ceremonies for the evening, Bennie Bierman.

Bierman navigated the audience through a three part performance by the choir. Each section of the performance showcased songs that were centred around the theme of love.

Songs were performed by the group and soloists. Poems about love were also recited by performers during each selection of songs.

Performances of Afrikaans, English, German and Italian songs about romantic and religious love were enjoyed by the packed auditorium at the Brackenhurst Dutch Reform Church.

The three course meal consisted of a filled pear to start, a selection of roast meats and salads for the main course, and apple pie with ice cream for dessert. Attendees also stood a chance to win a prize in a lucky draw.

Bierman stated that all the profits raised would be used to fund the choir’s ambition to record a CD of their music and fund touring in the forthcoming year.
