Brackenhurst Primary School celebrates South African heritage

The Brackenhurst Primary School Heritage festival was an amazing expression of cultural diversity and pride.

ALBERTON –Ā Brackenhurst Primary School celebrated the wealth of diverse cultures that exist in South Africa with their annual heritage festival.

The festival was a whole day affair, with performances beginning at 13:00 and continuing until past 19:00.

The school welcomed the Bala Brothers to the stage at 15:00. Loyiso and Phela Bala were there to take photo’s with the children before hitting the stage and entertaining the crowds with a selection of their own hits and some cover songs.

The senior choir sang a rendition of the Bright Blue song “Weeping”, and the entire student body then performed a version of “The Circle of Life” with the Bala Brothers.

Pupils from every grade showcased their talent with some playing marimba while others sang and danced.

Parents and teachers arrived in droves to support the students and many attendees came dressed in traditional outfits.

The evening was rounded out by an incredible display of fire dancing and a rousing rendition of the national anthem.
