Expect a 6-hour temporary road closure

Road users will need to make use of other roads while work is being done by the municipality.

ROAD users are being informed that two busy roads will be temporary closed for around six hours tomorrow morning, September 22.

Themba Gadebe, spokesperson for the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM), said the road Swartkoppies Road between Hennie Alberts and Vermooten streets will be temporarily closed from 10:00, due to a pedestrian bridge deck which will be installed on Swartkoppies Road.

“The deck will be installed on the west-bound lane and will therefore be closed. The affected two-way traffic will be accommodated on the east-bound lane with pointsmen directing traffic at Hennie Alberts and Vermooten streets.”

The road is expected to reopen by 16:30.

“However, the pedestrian bridge will not be opened immediately as the hand railing will only be installed once the deck has been fully installed,” said Gadebe.

“The EMM wishes to apologise for any inconvenience to be caused.”
