Methodists say no to substance abuse
Most people face stressful situations in their daily lives and many turn to legal and illegal substances as a way of coping.
ALBERTON – However, the use of such substances (alcohol, tobacco, narcotics etc) have a severe impact on our health, relationships, finances and our communities.
The Ministry Against Substance Abuse (MASA) is an initiative of the Methodist Church of Southern Africa (MCSA). The Alberton Mission Circuit of the MCSA will be conducting a Prayer Walk in Thokoza on Saturday, September 19, at 09:30 to show their solidarity with the community in their struggle against substance abuse.
The Prayer Walk will commence at the Youth Centre in Khumalo Street, Thokoza, and proceed to the Methodist Church on the corner of Ngwenya Street, Thokoza. Rev Ray Goddess, who heads the MASA Desk at the MCSA, will deliver a keynote address and other stakeholders such as the NPA, SAPS, EMPD, Department of Social Development and SANCA will also be present. Members of the community are invited to attend this event and show their support.
