R59 collision injures four

Driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a truck.

ALBERTON — Four people were transported to hospital this morning on September 10 after a collision on the R59.

Several emergency services attended to the accident scene that happened around 06:00 on the R59 towards the N12 West.

Kevin Peel, spokesperson for National Paramedical Services, said the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle and crashed against the barrier before colliding with a truck.

The patients were treated on the scene and transported to the Bertha Gxowa Hospital in Germiston with moderate injuries.

Russel Meiring, an ER24 spokesperson said the driver of the truck fortunately did not sustain any injuries.
