WATCH: 12 phone calls – no answer

The RECORD called the Alberton Customer Care Centre 12 times without reaching resolution.

ALBERTON – The RECORD called the Alberton Customer Care Centre 12 times without reaching resolution on Tuesday, September 1.

A resident contacted the RECORD early on Tuesday morning and stated that he was having trouble getting through to the Alberton Customer Care Centre.

The resident reportedly spent one full business day trying to make contact with someone who could assist him but according to the resident he was unable to reach a person who could help him. The RECORD used the two numbers listed on the Ekurhuleni website but found that one of the listed numbers was incorrect. The correct number, 011 999 2463, connected to the Alberton Customer Care Centre.

After contacting the correct number, the RECORD was given another extension which connected with a person who stated that they were not the right person to speak with and subsequently provided an alternate number. The second alternate number was not answered despite four attempts.

Attempting to make contact via the second listed number, 011 999 2100, resulted in being cut off five times. The RECORD then contacted the office through the 2463 number and was told that the 2100 number is out of order. It remains a contact number listed on the EMM website.

Once the RECORD had called the centre 12 times in total and the EMM Helpline once; we contacted the EMM media desk and was cut off once more before reaching EMM spokesperson, Themba Gadebe, on his cellphone.

At the time of publication official comment from EMM had not been received.
