Voortrekker High pupil nabbed for dagga

The EMPD Germiston Crime Prevention Task Team arrested a 16-year-old Voortrekker High School pupil on August 21, for possession of dagga.

GERMISTON – The EMPD members were on morning patrols in Boksburg when they sighted two boy learners on Montagu Street, acting suspiciously at around 7am.

EMPD spokesman Supt Wilfred Kgasago said on approaching the learners, the officers realised that one of the boys had suddenly dropped something on the ground.

“A finger dagga zoll was the thing dropped and the boy learner was arrested,” said Kgasago.

The Grade 10 learner was detained at the Boksburg Central Police Station, where he was charged.

“His parents were summoned to the police station and made aware of the reason for the detention of their child. The other boy was given a verbal warning and allowed to proceed to school,” said Kgasago.

Because the arrested boy learner was uncooperative and refused to furnish his parents’ contact numbers, Metro Police sought the assistance of the Voortekker High School who obliged and, thus, the Metro Police were able to contact his parents.

The boy was subsequently released into the custody of his parents.
