Danielle takes the modelling world by storm

A 17-year-old model from Alberton is making waves in the international modelling scene.

ALBERTON — Danielle van Randen (17) has the modelling world at her feet and is scooping up prizes one after the other.

This Alberton High School pupil, who took up modelling at the Figures Modelling Alberton in August last year to boost her self-confidence, has gained so much more than she could have ever anticipated.

Danielle won the recent Figures International Model of the Year 2015 competition and part of her winnings include an all-expenses paid trip to the annual International Model and Talent Convention (IMTA) in New York later this year.

As part of the Figures Models South Africa group, she competed against the other international models from Japan, Finland, Australia, Canada and Britain.

The South African group competed in categories which included modelling, singing, dancing and acting.

Melanie van den Heever, owner of Figures Modelling Alberton said the girls were professional and looked stunning both on and off the stage.

“New friends and talent industry contacts were made which will hopefully be the beginning of a whole new chapter in their lives,” she said.

Melanie said this competition was a kick-start to Danielle’s modelling career as she has been offered modelling contracts by IMG Models Worldwide and Wilhelmina Models. Danielle chose to sign a contract with IMG.

Danielle also won the make-up competition in her division, received an honourable mention and was chosen to walk in the Nicole Miller fashion show.

Her mom, Lynette van Randen, said that she is very happy with the results.

“I am the proudest mom in the world. What Danielle has achieved in these past 10 months is beyond comprehension, her modelling journey is only starting now.?”

Melanie, her husband and co-owner of Figures Modelling Alberton, Wayne van den Heever, said they too are proud of their youngsters for giving their best, having a blast and achieving so much during their week-long convention.

“We wish Danielle all the best in her future career and hope that she goes from being an unknown model to a modelling icon.”
