Leaking fire hydrant repaired

Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality has finally fixed the leaking fire-hydrant in Florentia.

FLORENTIA — The leaking fire-hydrant on the corner of Fick and Smith Streets in Florentia has been fixed.

Themba Gadebe, spokesperson for the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) said the leaking fire-hydrant, which was reported in the RECORD of August 19, was not recorded on the municipality’s official complaints system and therefore no reference number for the complaint could be found.

“Once we became aware of it, it was rectified,” Gadebe said.

Resident Annette Kleynhans said that she became aware of the leaking fire-hydrant four months ago and subsequently reported the matter to the municipality multiple times.

Gadebe said Ekurhuleni residents can report any service related complaint at any time and day of the week to the EMM call centre on 0860 543 000.

Complaints regarding water or sewers for the Alberton area can be reported during office hours to 011 999 2646/47 or via email to water.alberton@ekurhuleni.gov.za
