Library user disappointed by poor service

A resident received poor treatment at the Brackenhurst library, EMM responded to her letter

ALBERTON – A Bracken Library user has expressed dissatisfaction with service she received recently.

According to the resident, she was ignored by a staff member when she needed assistance and was then treated poorly when she complained.

When contacted for comment, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) spokesperson, Themba Gadebe, stated: “The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality service standards are guided by the Batho Pele principles which every municipal official aims to apply when attending to customers. The EMM sincerely apologises to the member of the public who received unprofessional service at the Bracken Library. The matter has been dealt with and the official concerned was disciplined and retrained on the importance of customer care and service delivery.”

EMM also wishes to inform Alberton residents that there is currently a problem with the telephone lines at the library. Members of the public can utilise the online system to renew their books by emailing their request for renewal to braken.lib@ekurhuleni.gov.za

For any complaints or enquiries, residents are encouraged to contact the control librarian of the respective library.
