Lights out in Meyersdal and Thokoza

Power has been out in Meyersdal and surrounding areas after Rand Water technicians accidentally hooked a cable.

ALBERTON – Meyersdal residents have been without power since Tuesday, June 14. Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) is aware of the power supply interruption affecting parts of Meyersdal and surrounding areas.

The interruption is due to a cable which was accidentally hooked while Rand Water technicians were carrying out excavations to install new water pipes.

Parts of Thokoza are also experiencing a power interruption due to stolen inter-switch links. According to reports, EMM technicians are currently working around the clock to restore power to the affected areas.

The EMM wishes to apologise for any inconvenience to be caused and reminds consumers to treat all electrical appliances as “electrically live” at all times.
