Alberton community rallies around Tristan

As of June 24, the Alberton community has rallied to assist Tristan Delport in reaching his dream to be part of the Arthur Johnson invitational 22 man squad to play rugby in Ireland. Tristan was spotted and chosen from 400 young rugby players in Mosselbay and invited to take part in a rugby tour to Ireland. He still in need of funds to make this dream a reality.

ALBERTON- As of June 24, the Alberton community has rallied to assist Tristan Delport in reaching his dream to be part of the Arthur Johnson invitational 22 man squad which will play rugby in Ireland.

Tristan was selected out of 400 young rugby players and has been invited to join the squad when they head to Ireland in October. These young men have the opportunity to play against Ireland’s best and develop their rugby techniques.

A request went out in the Alberton RECORD, on June 24, for financial assistance for Tristan. So far, it has been a quite a surprise for the young man as several individuals and businesses have come forward to assist him. Tristan, his mother and the extended family would like to thank every single person who has opened their hearts to help him.

*R2 000 by Shaun Maharaj, the CFO of Fidelity Security Services, in his private capacity.

*R400 by Ulga from 45 Camborne Road, New Redruth.

The above pledges add up to R17 600 and Tristan needs about R40 000 to cover his costs. He is well on his way and his mom has already booked his flight to Cape Town where the official flight leaves from.
