Tragedy on the R103

An overturned taxi on the R103 near Diana street in Vosloorus has resulted in multiple fatalities and critical injuries.

VOSLOORUS – At least four people have been killed and eight others left in a critical condition after a taxi overturned on the R103 near Diana Street in Vosloorus this morning according to a statement released by ER24. The incident reportedly occurred shortly after 11:00.

Paramedics from numerous services arrived on the scene where they found the passengers scattered across the road. The occupants were thought to have been thrown from the vehicle when the driver of the taxi allegedly lost control causing the taxi to overturn multiple times.

Four people were declared dead on the scene. Eight people, including two children, have reportedly been critically injured. The two children were airlifted from the scene to receive urgent medical attention. The majority of the critically injured patients have sustained severe fractures and suspected head injuries.

At least 18 people were in the taxi at the time of the collision, according to the statement. The injured were transported to local hospitals in the area for further medical management.

The exact cause of the incident is not yet known and will be investigated by the local authorities.
