The message from the’ Be your dream project’ that was founded by a previous Marais Viljoen learner, now artist Anaïs, is live your dream! Alberton High had the pleasure of welcoming Anaïs and the talented group that travels with her around the country on May 15. Anaïs, the current national ambassador for Lifeline South Africa, encouraged the excited learners to contact Lifeline should they need help with anything from relationship problems to bullying.

ALBERTON- A young man’s life took a 360 degree turn for the better when it was announced that he would receive a full bursary covering his studies.

Khyrin Boardman, an 18-year-old pupil form Alberton High, received the life changing news that he will be able to reach his dream of studying Forensic Auditing at Wits, thanks to the ‘Be Your Dream Project’.

Now he is faced with the challenge of being accepted into Wits, his dream university. Since Khyrin’s family does not have the means, and never thought they would be able to support him in furthering his studies, he did not apply to any university. But this is not going to stop him from trying and applying now.

On May 15, Alberton High had the pleasure of welcoming Anaïs and the talented group which travels around the country with her. “Live your dream” was the message from the ‘‘Be Your Dream’’ project, which was founded by Anaïs, a past Hoërskool Marais Viljoen pupil. Anaïs, the current national ambassador for Lifeline South Africa, encouraged the excited learners to contact Lifeline should they need help with anything from relationship problems to bullying.

After an exhilarating performance the ‘‘Be Your Dream’’ team had a wonderful surprise for Khyrin. They announced that he would receive a bursary covering his studies and called him to the front. Khyrin was clearly overjoyed and overwhelmed. Several teachers and children were visibly moved by this wonderful miracle which will change his life forever.

He was sick at home on the morning of the concert and the principal, Mr Jannie Olivier, phoned his mom and told her he had to come to school that day and that no excuses would be expected. Khyrin was sure he was in trouble.

However, he was surprised to find that his dream to study further had come true.

Anaïs has initiated bursary schemes at the Campus of Performing Art, the Academy of Sound Engineering and the MSC Business College. These bursaries are funded by ‘Be Your Dream’ and are intended for candidates who have dreams to study but not the means.

The ‘‘Be Your Dream’’ programme will feature on Kyk-Net, on Sundays, between 15:00 and 16:00. For free help or support, contact the 24-hour LifeLine number: 0861 322 322.
