Three injured in collision on R59

Three people were injured in a collision between two vehicles on the R59, close to Kliprivier Road, early in the morning on May 10.

ALBERTON – According to a press release from ER24, paramedics and other emergency services arrived on the scene and found a heavily damaged vehicle in the veld next to the road.

A second vehicle was found several metres away, on the side of the road, and all patients in the vehicle were unharmed.

A man, who paramedics believed was in his 30s, was walking around in the veld. He was assessed by the paramedics and treated for minor injuries.

Two people were trapped in the vehicle found in the veld. This vehicle was heavily damaged and Fire and Rescue Services had to use the Jaws of Life to free the two occupants.

“Paramedics assessed the patients, both men, believed to be in their late 20s. The driver was found to have sustained critical injuries, while the other patient sustained moderate injuries,” ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing explained.

All the patients were transported to local hospitals for further medical care.

The exact cause of the collision is still unknown.

Police were on the scene for further investigation.
