One person shot in Alberton North

The owner of Beras Spare Motor Parts in Alberton North has been shot by armed robbers today (May 11) according to SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Nkuna.

ALBERTON NORTH – Statements given to the police say that the owner returned to the automotive business in the early afternoon to find the security gate open and a car blocking the entrance. The car moved to allow him to enter and a KIA Rio was seen entering the premises behind him. One suspect got out of the KIA; approached the owner and shot him once in the abdomen.

The suspect stole the owner’s briefcase which is thought to have contained an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect then got back into the Kia and was driven away. The suspects also shot into the air as they were fleeing the scene. The car that was blocking the entrance of the business could not be connected by the SAPS to the KIA Rio.

The injured man was transported to hospital by emergency services. A section of 1st avenue was blocked off while

SAPS investigators processed the scene for a few hours following the incident.
