‘I think they want to kill me’

While in the company of bodyguards bankrolled by Kenny Kunene and Gayton MacKenzie, Kotze was allegedly involved in a high speed chase with a gang of unknown gunmen.

In an interview with our sister publication The Citizen; suspended EFF member and Alberton resident Wiekus Kotze accused EFF leaders of organising an attempt on his life. The suspended chief financial officer reported that on Sunday, April 26 his car was pursued and shot at on the N12 towards Alberton.

While in the company of bodyguards bankrolled by Kenny Kunene and Gayton MacKenzie, Kotze was allegedly involved in a high speed chase with a gang of unknown gunmen. The reported attack comes after Kotze made public claims of fraud against high-ranking EFF officials. Kotze has claimed that the gunmen were hired to kill him.

“It all started after the press briefing I held three weeks ago to inform the country about the theft of public funds by EFF leaders,”  said Kotze.

“Immediately after the briefing, Julius Malema called me from his personal mobile phone more than three times, threatening me.

“It is clear this was an attempt to hand me over to people hired to assassinate me. I do not have enemies; it is obvious who is behind efforts to eliminate me. I think they want to kill me, because they know I’m taking them to jail.”

Kotze said he has reported the matter to the police.

Police could not deny or confirm that Kotze had opened the case on the attempt on his life.

Asked to comment on the matter, Malema said: “I don’t have time to entertain clowns. Next time when you call me, make sure you have issues of national importance to discuss with me.”
