Highjacking at Marais Viljoen’s main gate
Just as hundreds of school children walked out of the main gate at Marais Viljoen, a black BMW came speeding up Cradock Street in pursuit of a silver BMW 320i. and highjacked it in the driveway of 13 Cradock Street.
ALBERTON- Just as hundreds of school children walked out of the main gate at Marais Viljoen, a black BMW came speeding up Cradock Street in pursuit of a silver BMW 320i.
Xavier Janse van Rensburg (14) was standing in front of 13 Cradock Street, when the black BMW following the other vehicle nearly bumped him as it drove through the gate. He saw the perpetrators pulling out guns and forcing his friend’s father onto the ground. Xavier kept his head and when he reached the nearest adult he screamed: ”Phone 911.“
Nathaniel Scharneck (15) ran after the black BMW trying to take pictures of the registration number as it sped back down the road, but was blocked by the gate. The vehicle then turned around and raced back through all the learners.
The children were visibly shaken and in shock. Marias Viljoen teachers were already organising trauma counselling for all involved. Fortunately no one was injured in the incident.
CPS, FOX and the police promptly arrived on the scene and while still there received news that the silver BMW had been abandoned in Orpen Road.
