Denied access into Natalspruit

The DA’s Jack Bloom, the Gauteng Shadow MEC for Health, was denied access into the new Natalspruit Hospital recently.

VOSLOORUS – He explained that the reason for his visit was because Health MEC Qedani Mahlangu had claimed at a sitting on March 31 that the Electronic Document Management System was working well. He noted that in a previous visit this was not what he saw, but that he would visit the hospital to see for himself.

On his arrival he was unable to gain access to the hospital. Jack Bloom and his colleague, Dr Neil Campbell MPL AT, were stopped at the security gate.

“Head of security Mr Vusi Mkhize appeared to be waiting for me as I had announced earlier in the week that I was going to visit the hospital,” Bloom said.

According to Bloom they were told to “go to hell” and Dr Campbell was called a child.

“It is utterly appalling that we were barred so aggressively from doing our jobs as elected representatives in checking up conditions at this hospital,” Bloom added.
